Why the name

A scientist keeps lab notes as the record of the work: what was tried, what worked and what changed. We keep that record for the AI labs, in public.

What we believe

The pace is the story. So much ships each week that the important things get lost. We pick out what matters and leave the rest.

A promise is not a product. We report what exists and say plainly when something does not exist yet.

This belongs to everyone. We write for readers outside the industry as much as for the people inside it.

Independent means independent. No lab funds us, and none reviews what we publish.
